Turning 65
Turning 65 in Canton, OH.
A Canton-based independent agent who walks you through your first Medicare decisions in plain English — no cost, no pressure, and no same-day signature expected.
The Canton resident’s first-year Medicare reality
Turning 65 in Canton means making three or four decisions that’ll shape your healthcare costs for decades. Most of those decisions can be reversed later, but a couple come with permanent penalties if you get them wrong — or wait too long. The job of a good Medicare conversation at 65 is to make sure you understand which decisions are which.
What I help Canton residents work through
- The 7-month Initial Enrollment Period clock. Three months before your birth month, your birth month, three months after. We’ll figure out exactly when your window opens and what to do in each phase.
- Whether to enroll at 65 or delay. If you’re still working with employer coverage, the answer isn’t automatic. The HSA contribution cutoff and Part B late-enrollment penalty are the two pieces most people don’t know about.
- Medicare Advantage vs. Medicare Supplement. Two very different ways to be on Medicare. We’ll talk through your doctors, your prescriptions, and how much risk you’re comfortable taking on.
- Part D drug coverage. Even if you only take one prescription, you need a Part D decision — or you face a permanent late-enrollment penalty later.
- Local provider check. Whichever path you pick, we verify your current Stark County doctors and hospitals are in-network before you enroll.
What the conversation looks like
About 30 minutes by phone, by video, or in the Canton office — your call. I don’t ask for paperwork or a decision in the same meeting. The goal of the first conversation is to make sure you understand your options. The second conversation (a week or two later, if you want one) is the decision conversation.
No cost to you. I’m an independent agent paid by the carriers when you enroll — not by the hour and not by you. That means the same fee is built into the premium whether you enroll with me or with anyone else, so you might as well work with someone in Canton who’ll pick up the phone next year.
The full roadmap
